Comprehensive protection against viruses and malicious code. The program scans all data transferred via the Microsoft ISA Server and blocks all types of malicious code. Objects scanned by the solution include archived and compressed files in over 1,500 formats, including ZIP, CAB, RAR and ARJ archives.

Detection of potentially hostile software. When extended antivirus databases are used the solution protects not only against viruses, but also against malicious and potentially hostile programs as well. This class of software includes adware,programs that collect information, programs that remotely monitor and control victim computers, programs that automatically establish modem connections with pay sites and other utilities that can be used by cybercriminals.

Configuring traffic filtering parameters

The administrator can use additional settings to adapt the product to the needs of individual companies.

Trusted servers. A list of trusted servers can be used to exclude data received from such servers from scanning.

Object types. The administrator can select the types of objects that do not need to be scanned for viruses (e.g., graphical files). This helps reduce the load of the Microsoft ISA Server.

User groups. The solution supports the creation of user groups with individual data scanning rules based on the company’s security policy.

Administration

Administrators can set application performance parameters using Microsoft Management Console functionality, which is installed on server itself or workstation.

Convenient and flexible administration. The administrator can configure the program via the Microsoft Management Console installed on the server or on a remote workstation.

Notification and reporting system. The ISA Server notification tool, Microsoft ISA Server Alerts, can be used to notify the administrator of critical events in the operation of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus program installed on the Microsoft ISA Server using different methods of notification. All important messages related to the operation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus are also recorded in the Windows system and application logs.

Database updates. The antivirus database and program components can be updated on demand or automatically on schedule over the Internet from dedicated Kaspersky Lab servers or from local update servers. Kaspersky Lab releases antivirus database updates on an hourly basis.

The product’s optimization

Performance. The program scans large volumes of data without affecting the performance of the Microsoft ISA Server. This is achieved by configuring parameters for transferring the data being scanned, including maximum scanning time, maximum time interval between transfers of data to the end-user, etc.

Running several copies of the antivirus engine. The application can be scaled based on the organization’s needs byrunning several copies of the antivirus engine simultaneously. Portions of the antivirus engine copies can be reserved for processing “fast” objects: less than 2 MB for test and graphic files and less than 256 KB for all others.
